5 Yummy Baked Walleye Recipes

Walleye fish are delicious to eat, and a good recipe with the right fillings, spices, herbs and such can make it even better. Here are five good things to try the next time you have a Walleye fish available to eat. The first recipe is for Walleye cheese fillets, and it makes 4 to 6 depending on the size of each. First you have to make the cheese sauce the ingredients are 6 ounces of Velveeta cheese, a tablespoon of butter, a tablespoon of lemon juice, two or three tablespoons of milk (depending how creamy you want the sauce to be), half a tablespoon of garlic powder, onion powder, and add salt and pepper. After preheating the oven to 350, mix all the sauce ingredients in the sauce pan and cook it on the stovetop until the cheese is melted and the ingredients are blended. When you have made the fillets, put them in the coated baking dish and sprinkle with lemon pepper. Pour the cheese sauce over the fillets and bake them at 350 for about 25 minutes. They are best served with rice or vegetables, and the sauce can be altered for flavor, like hot sauce or soy or whatever other condiment you choose. The second recipe is simple baked and breaded Walleye, and it can be used for other freshwater fish too. Like in the last recipe, heat the oven to about 350. First you need to prepare the breading on the fillets put about half an inch of oil in a skillet, turning the flame up to about medium. Then, you remove the skin from the fillets and cut them into smaller chunks. Soak these in a bowl of salt water for half an hour (two teaspoons of salt will do). Next, to make the breading, you will take a cup of instant biscuit mix, a cup of instant mash potato flakes, and half a cup of Italian bread crumbs. Mix all these well in a gallon plastic bag. Then, break two eggs and mix them with a bit of milk, then place the Walleye fillets in this mix, and place them into the bag of breading you just made. Now, you can put them into the oven for about 10 minutes or until they are golden brown and thoroughly cooked. To test this, dig into the center of the fillet with a spatula it should come away flaky and white. After this, you can sprinkle sat, pepper or a small dash of lemon juice for taste. If you want them done quicker you can fry them, but baking is healthier. Here is a third recipe similar to Breaded Walleye. I don't know exactly what it is called, but it looks good. The ingredients are simple a cup of pankou, or Japanese bread crumbs, a cup of pre-prepared Parmesan cheese (ie the grated kind, not the block), two beaten eggs and some milk. First, you mix the milk and eggs, then put in the pankou and cheese. Lightly dip the fillets into this mixture, and pat the excess dry. Put them on a baking sheet and cook until golden brown. You can also saute this recipe in butter or oil.
