Northern pike freshwater fishing is truly an experience. However, there are those individuals who don't want to start his or her fishing adventure without knowing something about the lures to use. On the other hand, there are those individuals who would much rather try a variety to see which lures work well for them. Either way the pike will be more than happy to help an individual to decide. And, with so many different types of lures to choose from it can get a bit confusing for the fish angler that is going after a northern pike. These books and magazines often give descriptions of the best lures for catching northern pike. In some of these books and northern pike guides an individual might find information about a variety of lures, and there are a few listed in this article. Spoons have been around for quite some time, and these are those lures that are like oval shaped pieces of metal that actually take on a somewhat resemblance of a spoon. This might include small minnows, night crawlers, and even perhaps leeches. For many northern pike fish anglers the lure guide is considered an important addition to the tackle or equipment that is taken on the fishing trip.
